Aging & Disability Services

  1. Diabetes Self-Management Program

    Do you live with diabetes, or know someone who does? Senior Connections, (The Capital Area Agency on Aging) in partnership with the Chesterfield County Office of Aging & Disability Services will offer a workshop entitled Diabetes Self-Management Program. This free workshop led by lay leaders will meet for six consecutive weeks on a designated day and time. People with diabetes must deal not only with their disease, but also with the impact this has on their lives and emotions. This workshop will focus on developing an action plan, feedback and problem solving, communication, nutrition and healthy eating, preventing/monitoring low blood sugar, stress management, depression, positive thinking, working with your healthcare provider, skin and foot care, and preventing complications. Adults with diabetes, friends, family members and caregivers are welcome to participate in this workshop. Registration is closed, class is full.

    Chesterfield County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors elected by district. The Board of Supervisors appoints a county administrator who directs the County's day-to-day operations. For information regarding the duties of the Board of Supervisors, see the County Code of Ordinances.

    Unless otherwise specified:

    • Afternoon work sessions are held at the Administration Building, 9901 Lori Road, Room 502 (5th floor).
    • Evening meetings are held in the Chesterfield County Public Meeting Room, 10001 Iron Bridge Road.
    • Afternoon sessions break at 5 p.m. for dinner, and then resume at 6 p.m.

    Father Matters is a weekly group with the goal of providing fathers an opportunity to come together to talk about common issues that fathers face. We strive to support and empower fathers to pursue their goals and to be positively involved in the lives of their children and the community. There is no cost and sessions are open to all men who are, or expect to be, in a father role of any child (forever dad). Meetings are held Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at the Community Development Building (9800 Government Center Parkway, Chesterfield, VA 23832).
