About Castlewood
This unique Federal-style house was built in 1817 by county clerk Parke Poindexter and features a formal 5-part layout that is unique among Virginia’s other recorded historic dwellings. The facility is utilized as an events rental space and used by the Historical Society for events and special functions. It is located near the Chesterfield Courthouse Complex on the corner of Route 10 and Krause Roads. Following Mr. Poindexter’s death, Castlewood passed through several owners until Chesterfield County purchased the property in 1980.
