CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred in the southbound lanes of Route 288 at the Midlothian Turnpike overpass at about 9:05 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Police said the driver of a 2017 Honda Pilot was driving eastbound on Midlothian Turnpike when he ran off the left side of the roadway into the median. The vehicle traveled through the median until coming to a rest in the southbound lanes of Route 288. The driver and one passenger were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. One additional passenger was pronounced deceased on scene.
Police are withholding the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. Police continue their investigation into this incident.
