Chesterfield County was recognized earlier this month as one of only two local government agencies ranked among numerous Virginia companies on Forbes list of “America’s Best-in-State Employers 2019.”
The county was ranked as the 73rd best employer to work for in Virginia, listed among household names like Google, Amazon, Wawa and Walt Disney. Arlington County was the only other local government agency on the Virginia list. According to Forbes and Statista, the list generated from the results of an independent study of more than 80,000 U.S. employees working for companies with at least 500 employees in their U.S. operations.
“Chesterfield prides itself on being a first-choice community with an outstanding caliber of employee, and our great workplace couldn’t be achieved without the attention of our citizens who have a vested interest in what their government does,” said Dr. Joe Casey, county administrator. “Their desire to have an accountable, performance-driven, customer-oriented county drives us every day to strive toward making our county a better place to live, work and play.”
As part of the survey, employees were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family as well as evaluate employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively. Surveys were administered in a series of anonymous panels and provide a representative sample of the U.S. workforce, according to Statista.
