The planting project at LaPrade Library on Saturday, April 27th, was in celebration of Arbor Day (April 26). Clover Hill district improvement funds covered the purchase and delivery costs of six large Yoshin
o Cherry trees and planting supplies from Crosscreek Nursery (a local nursery in the Clover Hill district). Community volunteers joined Mr. Winslow and staff from county Parks and Recreation, Libraries, and Community Enhancement, to beautify the front landscape area of the library. We enjoyed perfect weather and ideal planting conditions. Parks and Recreation staff taught members of Cub Scout Pack 836 how to plant large trees from planter pots, and gave them hands-on experience in helping all aspects of planting the six trees. Afterwards, we enjoyed a reception with refreshments donated by Friends of the Library. This project illustrates the power of teamwork and the beautiful results of getting our hands dirty to enhance our community.
