CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the 5000 block of Beulah Road at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6.
Police said a 1999 Toyota Camry was traveling north on Beulah Road when it hit a patch of ice, lost control and struck a 2015 Nissan Rogue that was traveling south. The driver of the Toyota, who was identified as Lloyd E. Burno, 58, of the 2400 block of Lancelot Avenue in Richmond, was ejected from the vehicle. Burno, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two dogs were also traveling in the Nissan; both dogs were transported to an area animal hospital by Chesterfield County Animal Services.
Police are still investigating the cause of this fatal crash, but at this point road conditions, lack of seat belt use and improper tire tread depth on the Toyota's tires appear to be contributing factors. Anyone with information should contact Chesterfield County Police at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660 or through the P3 app.
