CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — After many months of community outreach, public input and review, the Chesterfield County Planning Commission will hold two public hearings on the county’s draft Comprehensive Plan Update. The public hearings are scheduled for Feb. 19 and March 19, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room, 10001 Iron Bridge Road. The public is encouraged to attend either meeting and provide feedback to the Planning Commission on the draft plan. Once approved by the Planning Commission, the update will go to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
The Comprehensive Plan serves as the county’s growth and development guide, and the draft update can be reviewed at www.chesterfield.gov/compplanupdate. Upon adoption by the Board of Supervisors, the plan will be used to guide land development and public infrastructure investment decisions and revise/align county policies, programs, services and processes.
Virginia law requires that all local governments adopt, and periodically update its comprehensive plan. The plan does not rezone property or change existing uses or densities of property. It makes land use recommendations for every parcel of land in the county in order to help guide rezoning and land development decisions.
