Chesterfield’s Youth Services Citizen’s Board Now Accepting Nominations for Outstanding Youth Awards
The Chesterfield County Youth Services Citizen’s Board is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Outstanding Youth Awards. The deadline to apply is Friday, Feb. 8.
The Outstanding Youth Awards celebrate youth and adults who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to their communities, neighborhoods or schools. Awards will be given to four youth who reside in Chesterfield County in one of four categories: courage, compassion, community and school service, and leadership. One adult also will be recognized for fortitude, mentorship or service.
The winners will be recognized at the Outstanding Youth Awards event on Thursday, March 11, during a ceremony at the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center @Hull, 13900 Hull Street Rd, Midlothian.
Devin Hux, a senior at Cosby High School, is currently serving her second year on the board and is looking forward to this year’s awards.
“We’ve made some great changes to the awards program this year,” said Hux. “In addition to changes in the criteria, we’re focusing on spreading the word about this program and making it special for all attendees. We want all nominees to know that it’s a great honor to be chosen from among the 58,000 students within the county for this prestigious award.”
Members of the community can submit their nominations online until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8. The board looks forward to recognizing the four outstanding student winners and the adult winner at the March 11 ceremony.
