Chesterfield's 35th annual Black History Month Celebration kicked off last Saturday with a party at Virginia State University's Gateway Dining and Event Center. Attendees danced to music from the band Curv Appeal and DJ Chuck Stone, while Clover Hill District Supervisor Jessica Schneider joined Break It Down RVA for some line dancing. Matoaca District Supervisor Kevin Carroll and VSU President Makola Abdullah also got in on the fun.
The county and university are offering a variety of programs and events this month designed to explore the rich, diverse heritage of African Americans and their contributions to our community and nation. See the full schedule here.
