Chesterfield Electoral Board Certifies 2023 Local General Election Results

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — The Chesterfield Electoral Board unanimously voted to certify the results of the local 2023 General Election during its Nov. 14 meeting.

The vote by the county’s Electoral Board signifies the formal end of canvassing all votes.  Certified results from Chesterfield have been submitted to the state.

Certified local election results for Chesterfield’s Board of Supervisors, School Board and elected county Constitutional Officers include: 

  • Board of Supervisors 
    1. Bermuda District: Jim A. Ingle
    2. Clover Hill District: Jessica L. Schneider 
    3. Dale District: James M. “Jim” Holland 
    4. Matoaca District: Kevin P. Carroll 
    5. Midlothian: Mark S. Miller 
  • School Board
    1. Bermuda District: Ann Crawley Coker
    2. Clover Hill District: Dorothy L. “Dot” Heffron
    3. Dale District: Dominique R. Chatters
    4. Matoaca District: Steven A. Paranto
    5. Midlothian District: Lisa Martin Hudgins
  • Elected Constitutional Officers: 
    1. Clerk of Court: Amanda L. Pohl 
    2. Commonwealth’s Attorney: Erin B. Barr 
    3. Commissioner of Revenue: Jenefer S. Hughes 
    4. Sheriff: Karl S. Leonard
    5. Treasurer: Rebecca R. Longnaker 
    6. Soil and Water Conservation Director (James River District):
      • Carey Lynn Allen
      • Laura Lee Thompson

Overall, 45% of the county’s 268,000+ registered voter participated in the 2023 General Election. That includes: 

  • Total election day voters – 72,477
  • Total In-Person Absentee Voters – 32,839
  • Total Absentee Vote by Mail Voters – 14,274

Approximately 900 officers of election served in Chesterfield’s 86 precincts Nov. 7.  The Registrar’s Office anticipates a much larger voter turnout for the Presidential election, so precinct staffing requirements will increase.  Anyone who is interested in serving as an officer of election is encouraged to apply on the General Registrar’s page of the Chesterfield County website

The newly elected Chesterfield Board of Supervisors and Constitutional Officers will be sworn-in during a private ceremony with invited guests at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21. While the ceremony is closed to the public, it will be live streamed on the county’s official Facebook page

During its first Board of Supervisors meeting of 2024 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, the five newly elected members will select a chair and vice chair and will vote on its meeting calendar for the rest of the year. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the Public Meeting Room at the Chesterfield Government Center Complex, 10100 Iron Bridge Road.
