CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in the 6600 block of Hull Street Road at about 6:40 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Police said a Toyota Prius was traveling east on Hull Street Road when it struck an adult female who was lying in the roadway. At this point, investigators are still trying to determine why the woman, identified as Phyllis L. Lewis, 65, was in the road. The driver of the Toyota, who was not injured, stopped and immediately called police. Lewis, of the 6500 block of Sexton Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Just before the Toyota struck Lewis, a light-colored, hard-top Jeep Wrangler that was traveling in front of the Toyota swerved to avoid Lewis. There is no indication that the Jeep, which had multiple stickers on its back window, struck Lewis, but police would like to speak with the Jeep’s driver about what he/she saw. Police are asking the driver of the Jeep to contact crash investigators by calling 804-748-1251.
Police continue their investigation into this crash and urge anyone with information to contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660 or through the P3 app.
