County Administration
Chesterfield County recently received 36 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). These awards recognize the ways that local governments are providing better, more innovative services to their residents and strengthening communities across the country.
The county’s NACo awards more than doubled from 2022 when Chesterfield won 15. In fact, 36 of the 39 total applications submitted by the county for this year’s program were awarded.
“I want to first say congratulations to the many departments and our schools in getting award recognition,” said Chesterfield County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey. “These awards represent our highest annual accomplishment and virtually all of our applications got recognized. The hard and dedicated work our employees put in every day betters the lives of our residents, businesses, and visitors. These awards also benefit many other localities across our nation as I often get calls of thanks from my peers who are able to implement similar programs in serving their community.”
“The Board of Supervisors congratulates every department that received one of this year’s distinguished NACO Achievement Awards,” said Board Chair Kevin Carroll (Matoaca). “These recognitions are reflective of the outstanding customer service and commitment to innovation that employees throughout the county demonstrate each day. The Board is very proud of the staff responsible for these accolades and appreciates their commitment to building a safe and thriving community.”
NACo’s annual Achievement Award Program has been recognizing outstanding county government programs for more than 50 years. Award categories include community development, health, libraries, public safety, and much more.
