CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police continue to investigate a homicide.
At about 5:47 a.m. on Friday, May 26, Chesterfield police responded to the 19200 block of Brevard Drive after they received a report that an adult female, who lives at the Brevard Drive residence, had arrived at an emergency room in Prince George County with life-threatening injuries. Upon arrival at the house, officers forced entry and found a second adult female with apparent non-life threatening injuries; she was transported to an area hospital, where she was found to have life-threatening injuries.
The adult female who was transported to the Prince George County emergency room, identified as Davina C. Bishop, 33, died as a result of her injuries. The second female victim, who also lives at the Brevard Drive residence, remains in the hospital.
Mikal W. Lawton, 37, of the 19200 block of Brevard Drive, was arrested Friday afternoon in relation to the incident. After consultation with the Chesterfield County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Lawton was charged with malicious wounding and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Lawton, who is known to both Bishop and the second victim, is being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
