TopWorkplaces.com has for the second year in a row tabbed Chesterfield County among its honorees as a Top Workplaces USA National Award winner.
The county was among the Top 100 employers out of more than 300 organizations with 2,500+ employees throughout the country. In all, the awards process included feedback data from more than 27 million employees across 70,000 organizations.

The Top Workplaces USA National Award, according to the site, celebrates nationally-recognized companies that make the world a better place to work together by prioritizing a people-centered culture and giving employees a voice.
The award is based entirely on feedback from a confidential research-based employee engagement survey completed by the employees of participating workplaces.
“When we received the honor last year in our first submission it was a great honor,” said County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey. “To participate again and be recognized again makes me appreciate the honor even more knowing how competitive the process is and how the results are based upon employee surveys. When competing for talent, this helps us recruit, but even more important, the work environment helps us retain the best in their dedication to our citizens. That is what is necessary for a First-Choice Community. We also know our community values the efforts and service in one of the finest workforces around.”
“The Board of Supervisors is committed to maintaining a work environment that makes county employees feel valued, supported, and respected,” said Board of Supervisors Chair Kevin Carroll (Matoaca). “We were able to tackle some long-standing issues of salary compression in the current fiscal-year budget but our efforts go far beyond pay. Working together, county leaders and staff have grown a work culture that embraces honesty, inclusiveness and innovation. The return on such workplace investment are engaged employees who are inspired to deliver outstanding public service.”
Top Workplaces uses Energage, an organization that researches employee engagement levels nationwide, to gather information. The surveys capture employee responses anonymously in four culture priorities: Alignment, connection, coaching and performance. The survey also measures employee satisfaction and confidence in leadership.
