New Citizen Tax Portal Available to Chesterfield Residents, Businesses

Commissioner of the Revenue

Jan. 9, 2023

Chesterfield County and Commissioner of the Revenue Jenefer Hughes are excited to announce the official opening of the county’s new Citizen Tax Portal.

For those in Chesterfield who need to apply for or renew a business license, review personal property information, apply for tax relief, or update their contact information, among many other matters, the portal is the easiest way to get things done.

The new online portal allows for a number of uses on both the business and personal property fronts including:

For Businesses:

  • Apply for a Business License
  • Renew a Business License
  • File business tangible personal property
  • Submit monthly transient occupancy filing
  • Submit monthly consumer/consumption filing
  • Submit quarterly short-term rental

For Personal Property:

  • Review personal property information
  • Submit vehicle forms
  • Apply for tax relief
  • Update your contact information
  • Submit Vehicle High Mileage Form

“We are very excited to provide an online Citizen Portal as an extension to our services to the Chesterfield County community,” said Hughes. “Renewing a business license, filing local tax returns and applying for tax relief is now much easier and more efficient than in previous years.”

“This is part of our continuing overall efforts to enable citizens and businesses to get the information they need or conduct business with us 24-7 from the comfort of their home or business,” County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey said. “Anytime we can save you a trip and time, is what customer service should be.”

The online Citizen Portal, which launched on Dec. 19, 2022, is specifically for accessing information related to assessments. All tax payments will continue to work through the Treasurer’s Office.

In addition to the launch of the new portal, the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office has also made things easier for residents by opening a DMV Select within the county complex.

You can visit the new Citizen Tax Portal today going to the Commissioner of the Revenue’s website (chesterfield.gov/comrev) or by clicking here.
