Chesterfield's annual Veterans Day Ceremony, sponsored by Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV), was held indoors at the Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center because of inclement weather last Friday.
Chesterfield Board of Supervisors Chair Chris Winslow, a U.S. Navy veteran, offered a welcome to veterans, families and guests.
U.S. Marine Corps Ret. Maj. Gen. Craig Crenshaw, Virginia's Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs, introduced Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
The governor provided remarks during the program and was accompanied by First Lady Suzanne Youngkin in meeting with attendees afterward.
Thomas Dale High School's band and choir presented musical salutes to the veterans.
The ceremony also included the traditional presentation of banners in memory of fallen Chesterfield soldiers, the tolling of a bell for the fallen and the playing of Taps.
