CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police have arrested a former Chesterfield County Public Schools teacher in relation to the sexual assault of a juvenile female student.
Police said Yves G. Denton, 42, sexually assaulted a then-17-year-old female student while in a custodial relationship. At the time of the assault, which occurred in December 2021 and was reported to the police in February 2022, Denton was a teacher at Thomas Dale High School and the victim was a student at the school. The victim had previously been one of Denton's students but was not his student at the time of the assault. The assault did not occur on school property.
After an extensive investigation, Denton, of the 1100 block of Salisbury Drive in Chesterfield, was arrested on Oct. 4, 2022, and charged with taking indecent liberties with a child by custodian and assault. He was released from the Chesterfield County Jail on an unsecured bond following a court appearance.
