James River Regional Cleanup Set For Sept. 10

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — The James River Advisory Council (JRAC) is holding the 23rd Annual James River Regional Cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 10. 

The cleanup is a cooperative, regional event spanning more than 75 miles of the James River. Walkers, powerboats and paddle craft are welcome at the 12 sites, which involve seven different localities. Those sites include:

  • Appomattox and Buckingham Counties
  • Chesterfield County
  • City of Lynchburg
  • City of Petersburg
  • City of Richmond
  • Goochland County
  • Henrico County 

 In Chesterfield, the specific cleanup sites include Dutch Gap Boat Landing Conservation Area, Falling Creek Ironworks Park and Falling Creek Reservoir.

 Volunteers should remember to dress comfortably (closed toe shoes) and bring gloves, masks, trash bags, grabbers, water, insect repellent, sunscreen, and a hat if they so choose.
