CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police have arrested a suspect in relation to a suspicious incident that occurred in the parking lot of the Walmart at 5700 Hopkins Road on Thursday, May 5, 2022.
At about 6.20 p.m. on May 5, police responded to multiple calls regarding a subject on the hood of a vehicle yelling for someone to call 911. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate the subject. Within moments, police received additional calls regarding a subject who had been thrown from a moving vehicle in the 5000 block of Hopkins Road. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim; he was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect vehicle did not remain on scene, but officers were able to identify its driver as Margareth Nelson Mejia, 27, of the 4900 block of Bryce Lane in Richmond. Nelson Mejia, who is the girlfriend of the victim, was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding and driving without a license in relation to the incident.
