Chesterfield Cuts Ribbon on New Stratton Park Connector Trail

Transportation Department and Parks and Recreation

May 3, 2022

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA —  Today, the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation and Transportation departments held a ribbon cutting at Stratton Park (5201 Ridgedale Parkway) to celebrate the completion of the new Stratton Park Connector Trail for pedestrian and bike use.

The multi-use connector trail, which links Stratton Park to several other amenities in the area, was developed with funding from the Commonwealth Transportation Board and the Richmond Regional Transportation Planning Organization. The project, which includes a paved half-mile long, 10-foot wide trail with two 14-foot wide bridges, was completed in December.

Named after the former dairy-farm landowners and family who donated the land, Stratton Park featured the county’s first synthetic turf facilities that were the first of their kind in the Richmond Region when they opened in 2013.

“I am very excited to announce this improvement to Chesterfield’s outstanding parks system in the Dale District,” said Supervisor James Holland. “This trail safely connects the existing neighborhoods with Stratton Park, Ukrop Park, SwimRVA, and the amenities on Ridgedale Parkway. Walkers, joggers, and bikers alike will certainly love using this trail, and I’m confident it will be a ‘go-to’ destination for nearby workers and families, seeking the respite of the great outdoors.”

Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a half-mile walk around the park.
