CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police have produced and released a video highlighting the unsolved homicide of Jerry Colyer Jr., who was shot and killed approximately five years ago.
At about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2016, police responded to the Econo Lodge at 2310 Indian Hill Road for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Responding officers found a man who had been shot. The man was identified as Jerry Vadal Colyer Jr., 43, of the 2700 block of Haden Avenue; he died at the scene.
In recent months, Chesterfield County Police worked with members of the Colyer family and others to produce a roughly 13-minute video exploring the case. The video, titled "Chesterfield Unsolved: The Homicide of Jerry Colyer, Jr.," includes interviews, archival photos and surveillance footage. The video also contains information about an additional $20,000 reward for information that leads to a successful conviction in this case being offered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The video is posted on the police department's YouTube channel and distributed across the agency's other social media channels and website.
