CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA -– Chesterfield County is now accepting applications online for the fall 2021 session of the Government Citizens Academy, which is being offered virtually. Applications may be submitted at www.chesterfield.gov/GovAcademy and are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17.
The academy’s nine meetings will occur virtually on Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m.to 11 a.m. starting Sept. 22 through Nov. 17.
Hosted by the county’s Department of Citizen Information and Resources (CIR), the Government Citizens Academy offers residents a first-hand opportunity to learn about the operations of Chesterfield County Government. It is intended for a diverse audience, from curious high school students, business owners, new or longtime residents and more. The free academy allows participants to meet local government leaders, while providing feedback about county services and programs.
“We are excited to continue offering our Government Citizens Academy in a safe, virtual format again this year. The academy provides residents a comprehensive look at how Chesterfield County Government works,” said Kelly Booth, CIR’s community engagement coordinator. “Not only is this academy a fun and important educational opportunity for participants, but it also allows us to hear residents’ feedback on how we can continue to grow our public services.”
