CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police in conjunction with the Virginia State Police, the Powhatan County Sheriff's Office and the Goochland County Sheriff's Office completed a traffic enforcement operation on Route 288 on Thursday, July 15. This primary roadway that traverses Chesterfield, Powhatan and Goochland counties is often the subject of complaints from community members about speeding and aggressive driving.
Throughout the day on July 15, law enforcement officers patrolled Route 288, focusing on speeding, alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, aggressive driving and seat belt enforcement. During the operation, police stopped a total of 105 vehicles. Police issued 122 summonses for a variety of traffic-related offenses, including speeding, reckless driving, cell phone use while driving and failure to wear a seat belt.
