[ARCHIVED] Chester Club Lake

Clean Up

The Keep ChesterfielTrash 1d Beautiful Team (KCB) Supervisor, Summer Benton, noticed a large trash spill on her way into work.   The trash spill was in the northbound lane of Iron Bridge Rd, beginning at Womack Rd and Branders Bridge intersection.  The loose trash covered the easement entirely at one point and was in the grassy median, also.  The worst part of the spill was along the steep embankment of Chester Club Lake!

Benton immediately donned safety gear, grabbed fellow KCB teammate Nick Yoss, and sent a dispatch message out to Deputy Justin Sawyer to enlist the help from the Sheriff’s Workforce.  Sawyer then rallied 2 other work crews, and all headed out early on May 14, 2021, with a sense of duty and determination to clean Iron Bridge Rd before work traffic started getting heavy.

There were at least 32.5 black yard bags worth of loose trash due to someone’s unsecured load.  That is a lot of loose garbage that could have very easily toppled over the steep embankment to pollute the waters of Chester Club Lake and potentially harm the wildlife, fish, and ecosystem.
