CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — The Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) Chesterfield Health District, which includes residents in the counties of Chesterfield and Powhatan and the City of Colonial Heights, announced Wednesday it’s expanding vaccination clinics to include all tiers in Phase 1b within the health district.
Residents interested in receiving a vaccination should pre-register, as completely as possible with their age, medical conditions and contact information, at vaccinate.virginia.gov or by calling 1-877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682). This one-stop-shop website and call center allows individuals to pre-register online, check their pre-registration and access additional information on Virginia’s vaccination roll-out.
Phase 1b vaccinations in the VDH Chesterfield Health District were limited to frontline workers, such as healthcare professionals, law enforcement and teachers, and people over the age of 65, because of extremely limited quantities the health district was receiving at the time.
However, as access to additional COVID-19 vaccines increased, along with efforts to get more residents vaccinated, VDH’s Chesterfield Health District is now ready to accept all qualifying residents who fall within the Phase 1b category and are seeking a vaccine.
As the VDH Chesterfield Health District opens vaccinations to all residents within Phase 1b, the division is also working closely with state health officials and local community partners – including Chesterfield County Government – on an appropriate time to transition the health district into Phase 1c (PDF) vaccinations.
“The Chesterfield Health District continues to make strides in our efforts to get as many people who would like to be vaccinated against COVID-19,” said Dr. Alexander Samuel, VDH Chesterfield Health District director. “Transitioning to vaccinate all eligible residents within Phase 1b of our health district means we are making significant progress in our fight to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of our families and friends.”
