CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police have arrested a suspect in relation to a shooting that occurred in the 9400 block of Midlothian Turnpike in July 2020.
At about 6:40 p.m. on July 1, 2020, police responded to a report that a man had been shot in his vehicle. Once on scene, officers located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Through investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Taron S. Dickson Jr., 21, of the 3600 block of Kings Point Court in Richmond. On July 17, 2020, detectives obtained the following warrants for Dickson in relation to the July 1 incident: attempted second-degree murder; aggravated malicious wounding; use of a firearm in the commission of a felony; malicious shooting at an occupied vehicle; willful discharge of a firearm in a street which conduct resulted in bodily injury to another person; felony eluding; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and driving while suspended.
On March 15, 2021, Dickson was apprehended in Los Angeles, Calif., with significant assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force. Dickson is currently in custody awaiting extradition to Virginia.
