Parks and Recreation honored with statewide awards

At the Virginia Recreation and Park Society Annual Conference held virtually last week, Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation received three awards for outstanding programs and facilities (population greater than 200,000).

The department received the following awards, which recognized achievements made in 2019:

  • Best New Facility (Parks, Playgrounds, Blueways, Greenways, or Trails) for the Pickleball Center at CTC@Hull
  • Best New Program for the Rec-n-Roll mobile playground
  • Best New Special Event for the First Responders and Multicultural CommUNITY Cup

This state-wide awards program honors individuals, departments and organizations throughout Virginia who have demonstrated excellence in the field of parks and recreation during the previous year. This year, 97 applications were received in 14 different categories.
