CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police have produced and released a video highlighting the unsolved homicide of David Emmanuel-Sinclair Copeland, who was shot and killed six years ago today.
At about 12:43 a.m. on May 15, 2014, police responded to the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard for a report of multiple shots fired. Responding officers found two men who had been shot. Copeland, 23, of the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard, died at the scene. The second victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.
In recent months, Chesterfield County Police worked with members of the Copeland family and others to produce a roughly 13-minute video exploring the case. The video, titled "Chesterfield Unsolved," includes interviews, archival footage, reenactments and information about an additional $2,500 reward for information being offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
"We hope this video will draw attention to David’s case and generate the information we need to solve it," said Capt. Jay Thornton, commander of the Criminal Investigations Division. "We would encourage anyone with information, even if it seems insignificant, to reach out to us."
The video was posted on the police department’s YouTube channel this morning and distributed across the agency’s other social media channels and website.
