CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — At the Board of Supervisors meeting this evening, Chesterfield County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey will announce Donna Arrington as the new accounting director. She will begin working in that role on Monday, Feb. 24.
With over 20 years of governmental accounting experience, Arrington “is widely recognized as one of the most respected local government financial minds in the state,” Dr. Casey said.
Arrington, a certified public accountant, is a Chesterfield resident who has worked in the county’s Accounting Department since 1999. Currently, she serves as assistant director of accounting, a role she has held since 2013. As assistant director, Arrington is responsible for managing and training accounting staff whose primary functions are to prepare the county’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, execute the annual county and schools external audit and collaborate with county and school departments on financial matters.
Before becoming assistant director, Arrington worked as a principal accountant and then accounting manager in Chesterfield’s Accounting Department. Prior to joining Chesterfield County government, Arrington worked as an accountant in the private industry for 17 years.
Arrington is a graduate of Longwood University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an Accounting concentration. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Government Finance Officers Association, the Virginia Government Finance Officers Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
