TAKE NOTICE

Take notice that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, Virginia, at an adjourned meeting on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 6 p.m. in the County Public Meeting Room at the Chesterfield Administration Building, Route 10 and Lori Road, Chesterfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing where persons may appear and present their views concerning:

Code Amendment Relative to Upper Swift Creek Tree Preservation (19PJ0121)

Ordinance to amend Code of the County of Chesterfield, 1997, as amended, by amending and re-enacting Sections 19.1-61, 19.1-66, 19.1-71, 19.1-76, 19.1-81, 19.1-92, 19.1-97, 19.1-246, 19.1-247, 19.1-249, 19.1-250, 19.1-252, 19.1-306 & 19.1-545 of the zoning ordinance relative to Upper Swift Creek Tree Preservation. This ordinance would, among other things, require within the Upper Swift Creek Watershed (USCW) that: a minimum of 10 percent of the land area be preserved as tree canopy for any cemetery, sites zoned for commercial or industrial, and sites zoned for residential with densities 20 units or more per acre; current land area tree canopy preservation requirements of 20 percent for sites having density of 10 units or less per acre and 15 percent for sites having more than 10 but less than 20 units per acre be amended to include all residential zoned sites having such densities not only single family residential; street trees be provided within a single family residential subdivision and permit canopy credit for such trees if planted within tree wells; except as provided for street trees, tree canopy utilized to meet preservation requirements be located in recorded open space, common area or buffers; single family residential lot area may be reduced up to 20 percent where lot has common boundary of at least 50 contiguous feet with a tree canopy preservation area having a minimum of 30 feet in width and 0.5 acres in area excluding wetlands, resource protection areas or stormwater infrastructure, or with preservation area which includes primarily Resource Protection Area; tree canopy preservation areas be designated on subdivision plats; landscaping plans depicting tree canopy preservation areas be provided; and plantings meet specifications of AmericanHort.

All persons favoring, opposing or interested in the above are invited to appear at the time and place herein stated and may speak. A copy of the proposed ordinance is on file in the County Administrator’s Office (Room 504) at the Lane B. Ramsey Administration Building, for public examination during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The hearing is held at a public facility designed to be accessible to persons with disabilities.  Any persons with questions on the accessibility of the facility or the need for reasonable accommodations should contact Sara Hall, Clerk to the Board, at 748-1200.  Persons needing interpreter services for the deaf must notify the Clerk to the Board no later than Friday, January 17, 2020.
