Ware Bottom Church Battlefield Park Acquisition
Expansion of the current park will enhance preservation of this site for nationally significant historical interpretation. The new acquisition will add 53 acres to the existing 10-acre park. The future park will provide interpretive trails, passive recreation and an area for parking.
Bicycle and pedestrian facilities are planned along Old Bermuda Hundred Road as part of Chesterfield's Bikeways and Trails Plan
The Chesterfield Planning Department, together with other County departments and Sports Backers, began working on the first Bikeways and Trails Plan in January 2014.
The master plan of this future park would follow guidelines for a special purpose / community park as recommended by the County’s Comprehensive Plan and the Departmental Comprehensive Master Plan.
The new elementary school will be located at the existing Harrowgate Park. Parks and Recreation has created a Conceptual Development Plan to replace park facilities.
The Historic Point of Rocks House (HPORH) is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its cultural significance and civil war ties.
Work will begin soon on the first phase of development at Irvin G. Horner Park, located off of Genito Road behind Clover Hill Athletic Complex. This work will include construction of an access road, parking lot, picnic area, paved 10-foot width loop trail, and a new park maintenance facility.
In order to meet the Bikeways and Trails Plan goal of providing a comprehensive bikeway and trail network, a finer scale of planning must be conducted to safely connect existing neighborhoods to the proposed core network.
Design work is underway for a trail system at Mary B. Stratton Park, adjacent to the Richmond Kickers youth soccer complex off of Ridgedale Parkway.
