Become a Deputy

Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is looking for candidates for our Sheriff’s Office Basic Academy to become the newest family members of our amazing Deputy workforce.

What does a Deputy do in Chesterfield?

An extremely simplified answer is that the Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement and security to the county’s jail facility, court house facilities, and serves criminal warrants and civil process paperwork throughout the county.

But we are SO MUCH MORE!  In addition to our primary focuses, we serve as a force multiplier for Chesterfield County Police Department during critical incidents and have several specialized teams and assignments with the focus on providing safety and security to the dynamic and growing population of Chesterfield County and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 Who are we looking for?

As a proud member of the Virginia Values Veterans program, we strongly encourage those who are veterans, those who are serving in the National Guard or Reserves to apply!  We also encourage women interested in a career in criminal justice to give us serious consideration as an employer of choice.  Trust us, you won’t be disappointed!

We are looking for people passionate about law enforcement whose values match ours:

Honor

Dignity

Respect

Justice

Equality

Hope

Community

Care

Inclusion

Service

Selfless
