Scheduling an Inspection Online

This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • To schedule or cancel an inspection for the next business day, do so by 8 p.m. of the current business day.
  • For an inspection on Monday, schedule it or cancel it by 8 p.m. Friday.
  • When a holiday occurs, please check our website for the schedule.
  • You can also look up inspections results and inspection history on the website. For instructions go to Obtain Inspection Results.

Before Scheduling

Before scheduling you will need:

  • A computer with access to the Web
  • Customer PIN Number
  • Permit Number

Scheduling an Inspection

  1. See Permit Status, Inspection Scheduling and Results.
  2. Enter the permit number (Example: 20120101-001) and the customer PIN number. (If you do not have a customer PIN, please call 804-751-4990.) You must have a customer pin to schedule an inspection.
  3. Click Schedule Inspection located on the left side of the screen in the Permit Options box.
  4. Verify that the permit information is correct in the Schedule Inspection box.
  5. Select Inspection Type, inspection date within the next five business days, and a.m. or p.m.* (if requested). Then click Schedule.

    *a.m. and p.m. inspections will be considered, but are not guaranteed.
  6. Verify that the information is correct in the Schedule Confirmation box, and record the confirmation number for your records.

Canceling an Inspection

  1. See Permit Status, Inspection Scheduling and Results.
  2. Enter the permit number (Example: 20120101-001) and the customer PIN number. (If you do not have a customer PIN, please call 804-751-4990.) You must have a customer pin to cancel an inspection.
  3. Click Cancel Inspection located on the left side of the screen in the Permit Options box.
  4. Click Cancel Inspection in the lower right corner of the current open inspection box.
  5. Click OK in the Windows Internet Explorer window.
  6. Verify that the information is correct in the Cancel Confirmation box.

Re-scheduling an Inspection

  1. See Permit Status, Inspection Scheduling and Results.
  2. Enter the permit number (Example: 20120101-001) and the customer PIN number. (If you do not know your customer PIN, please call 804-751-4990.) You must have a customer pin to reschedule an inspection.
  3. Click Cancel Inspection located on the left side of the screen in the Permit Options box.
  4. Click Re-schedule Inspection in the lower right corner of the current open inspection box.
  5. Click OK in the Windows Internet Explorer window.
  6. Select Inspection Type, inspection date within the next five business days, and AM or PM* (if requested). Then click Schedule.

*a.m. and p.m. inspections will be considered, but are not guaranteed.
