Providing Communications and Planning Assistance

The Department of Constituent and Media Services operates as a comprehensive support agency providing communications and planning assistance to county elected leaders, county administration and more than 40 county departments. The department has two divisions, Communications and Media and Constituent Services. 

Using a comprehensive set of communications tools and platforms, combined with a diverse mix of staff talent, Constituent and Media Services assists county leaders in engaging with constituents as they conduct the county’s business and work with county departments and partners. The department assists in telling Chesterfield’s story through a variety of formats,  including social media, podcast, blog, newsletters, direct marketing and media relations.

Communications and Media

The Department of Communications and Media (C&M) assists Chesterfield County residents, businesses and visitors by assisting in communicating all things Chesterfield via social media, WCCT television, Chesterfield Behind the Mic podcast, Chesterfield on Point blog, newsletters, articles on chesterfield.gov and through our many media partners. C&M works cooperatively with partners both internal and external to ensure that Chesterfield's story is told, available and accessible across a variety of communication platforms.

Media Resources

Our media resources are intended to help our media partners quickly access the information they need to provide accurate Chesterfield news, View recent news releases, active police calls, active fire calls and active traffic incidents.

Constituent Services

The Office of Constituent Services serves as point of contact and intermediary for constituent concerns, holds dialogues and corresponds with citizens or groups, and enhances Chesterfield’s overall ability to engage the public on important issues. Other duties of the Office of Constituent Services include:

  • Developing messaging on key issues facing the Board of Supervisors and other county leaders
  • Helping board members plan and prepare for special events/programs, including speechwriting and developing presentations
  • Maintaining transparency and the county’s compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
  • Provides direct and indirect support to all five members of the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors
  • Providing general support to county administration

Constituent Services works collaboratively with the county’s intergovernmental relations administrator to identify and communicate potential legislative issues among Board of Supervisors members and county staff and help maintain effective relationships with the county’s legislative delegation and local and regional partners.
