Under Construction Road Projects
Road projects managed by Transportation are listed under upcoming projects, under construction or recently completed. Below are those currently under construction. The Virginia Department of Transportation also manages projects in the county.

Elkhardt Road Improvements
Federal funds will be used to improve the vertical curve on Elkhardt Road from just west of Ruthers Road / Pocoshock Boulevard to Elmart Lane.

Indian Springs Road Extension
This project will extend Indian Springs Road approximately 100 feet across Reedy Creek to the Reedy Branch Subdivision. A new large culvert will be constructed to replace the existing temporary crossing. This project is on hold pending available funding.

Le Gordon Drive (Garnett Lane to Dead End of Le Gordon Drive) Rural Addition
The County and VDOT have determined that this non-state-maintained section of Le Gordon qualifies for upgrades and hard surfacing using state rural addition funds. Le Gordon will then be taken into the state system for maintenance. The work will entail reestablishing existing ditches, replacing/extending existing pipes, tree trimming, reshaping of the roadbed and surface treatment of the road.

Otterdale Road (Route 360 to Woolridge Road)
Widening of Otterdale Road from two to four lanes from Route 360 to Woolridge Road

Otterdale Road Drainage Improvements
County funding has been identified to address existing drainage issues on Otterdale Road between Woolridge Road and Genito Road. Preliminary engineering to address the Horsepen Creek and Blackman Creek crossings is scheduled to begin November 2020.

Route 1 Transit
Funding has been secured to initiate local transit service along Route 1 between the existing GRTC stop at the Food Lion north of Chippenham Parkway to John Tyler Community College. Transit service, GRTC Route 111, began on March 16, 2020. Plans are being developed to install bus stop pads and benches in phases beginning this summer. Shelters will be installed at some stop locations.

Route 10 (Bermuda Triangle / Meadowville) Widening
This project involves improvements to the intersection of Route 10 and Meadowville Road and widening Route 10 between Bermuda Triangle Road and Meadowville Road to eight lanes.

Route 10 (Whitepine to Frith) Widening
Federal Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) funds will be used to widen Route 10 to six lanes between Whitepine Road and Frith Lane.

Route 360 / Spring Run Intersection Improvement
This project will involve the construction of an additional right turn lane on northbound Spring Run Road at Route 360, an additional left turn lane on westbound Route 360 at Spring Run Road and a right turn lane on westbound Route 360 at Temie Lee Parkway.

Winterpock Road Widening
This project involves widening Winterpock Road from two lanes to four lanes from Route 360 (Hull Street Rd.) to 0.38 miles south of Royal Birkdale Parkway. The project will include the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Winterpock Road, Ashbrook Parkway, and McEnnally Drive.
