- Route 288 (Powhite Parkway – Hull Street) Corridor Study
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) US 360/Route 288 Interchange Area Study completed in 2016, identified a series of projects to improve existing and future safety and operations in the area of the interchange.
The first two priority projects are fully funded (SB Route 288 to WB Route 360 off-ramp plus park and ride (PNR) lot and the Bailey Bridge Connector. The NB Route 288 Fly-Over Off-Ramp to the Bailey Bridge Connector project is funded through preliminary engineering only.
This corridor study will further refine the remaining unfunded projects recommended in the 2016 study in order to pursue future funding for implementation.
The Genito Road/Route 288 Special Focus Area plan recommends an interchange access at Route 288 and Genito Road. The feasibility of this interchange will be included in the operational analysis of this corridor study. The corridor study will include detailed operational analysis of recommendations, develop conceptual sketches, cost estimates and public involvement materials.
The study is underway and anticipated to be completed winter of 2023.
