The birthday of civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is on January 15th; however, it is observed on the third Monday in January as a federal holiday. This year, January 17th, is recognized as a federal and county holiday.
In honor of Dr. King’s legacy, Chesterfield County, Virginia State University, and the Community Foundation will host activities for MLK “Day On” Service on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. From 9 a.m. -Noon, there will be volunteer opportunities for community service outreach activities. All volunteers should be fully vaccinated and wear masks for in-person community outreach activities.
Beginning at 12:00 noon, we will have a candid in-depth conversation on the topic “Connecting and Collaborating in our Community” with VSU Professors Dr. Zoe Spencer and Dr. Wes Bellamy. Tune in via Virginia State University.
