Determining an Animal's Adoption Success

The Chesterfield County Animal Shelter works diligently to place all healthy and treatable domestic animals in appropriate adoptive homes. To determine an animal's success in adoption, the shelter's staff utilizes the Asilomar Accords. The Asilomar Accords scores the physical and behavioral health of a sheltered dog or cat with a rating of healthy, treatable rehabilitatable, treatable manageable, or unhealthy and untreatable.
