Victim/Witness Assistance Program

Chesterfield County is committed to promoting the health and safety of our community while the courts resume more regular operations; therefore, the Victim/Witness Assistance Program offices inside the courts remain closed to the public at this time. Clients with urgent needs may be seen in person by scheduling an appointment; services are also available by phone, virtually or via email.

Domestic Violence resources are also available at the self-service information kiosk on the 2nd floor of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courthouse. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Advocates are available to help if you are the victim or witness of crime committed in Chesterfield County.  Services are confidential and free of charge.

Who is a crime victim?  

A crime victim is any adult or child who has suffered physical, emotional, or financial harm as a direct result of a crime.

  • We help survivors of all types of violent crimes.
    • adult physical and sexual violence*
    • serious child physical abuse or neglect*
    • child sexual abuse*
    • elder abuse
    • stalking
    • human trafficking
    • shooting or stabbing
    • vehicular crimes involving injuries, especially those involving alcohol/drug use by the offender
  • We also assist the surviving family members of homicide victims.
  • We provide assistance to victims of identity theft both locally and through the Office of the Attorney General.

*Specialized services are available to help survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
