Chesterfield Parks & Rec - Therapeutic Recreation

Our Mission

Therapeutic Recreation offers leisure and recreational activities to help individuals with intellectual, physical, emotional and/or developmental disabilities develop and refresh their mind and bodies in ways that enhance their health, independence and well-being.

To ensure an individual’s success in a program, staff known as Inclusion Coaches will be available to provide assistance. The Therapeutic Recreation staff offer assistance based on reasonable accommodations, which are determined on a case-by-case basis. We ask that an inclusion coach be requested at least three weeks prior to the start of a summer camp or program.

The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation provides opportunities and recreation programs that are open and accessible to all citizens in the county regardless of sex, religion, socioeconomic status or level of physical or intellectual ability.
