Chesterfield Public Schools Gifted Education

Our Mission

The Gifted Education Program recognizes and identifies diverse gifted learners and provides a comprehensive program that provides an appropriately differentiated instructional program responsive to student ability and learning needs. The program:

  • Assists students in achieving maximum use of potential to achieve personal success
  • Provides a continuum of program service options
  • Addresses the social and emotional needs of diverse gifted students
  • Supports an educational environment that challenges gifted learners and enables students to perform at levels of excellence and facilitates the development of self-directed learners

Eligibility

Chesterfield County residents. Nomination forms are available at all schools. Students may be nominated by a:

  • Community member
  • Guardian
  • Parent
  • Staff member
  • Student

Comments

Gifted learners are “children or youth with outstanding talent who perform or show the potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared with others of their age, experience or environment,” according to the U.S. Department of Education in 1993.
