Dr. James Worsley serves as the Parks and Recreation director and oversees the operation of 136 sites and 57 major parks, trails and 5,519 acres of outdoor spaces, as well as grounds maintenance and tree removal for county parks, schools, libraries, police precincts, athletic complexes and various other municipal sites within the county. Worsley is a Certified Park and Recreation Executive and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
He is a member of the National Recreation and Park Association where he serves as chair of the Supervisors Management School Board of Regents and is also a member of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society. Worsley holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a doctorate of philosophy from North Carolina A and T State University.
