Information regarding criminal charges or case dispositions is not provided over the telephone or via email.

NOTE: Unless appealed, traffic infractions are handled by the General District Court or Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court.
Unlike the District Courts that have separate traffic dockets, the Circuit Court integrates traffic infraction appeals into its criminal docket.
Criminal Record Checks
The Chesterfield Circuit Court does not perform criminal background checks. The Virginia State Police is equipped to perform a comprehensive background check encompassing the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. Additional information regarding services provided by the State Police can be obtained from the Virginia State Police website.
Public Defender Information
For information regarding the public defender assigned to a specific criminal case, contact the Chesterfield Public Defender's Office directly at 804-662-7171. The Court/Clerk's Office does not maintain such information.

Location
The Circuit Court Clerk's Office is on the first floor of the Courts Building located at the intersection of Ironbridge Road (Route 10) and Courthouse Road. The Courthouse is a large brick building with white columns and a circular drive.
Parking
Parking is permitted in any area except those that are gated, marked "reserved," or designated for jurors. There is no fee for parking.
