Meeting Customer Needs
The Chesterfield County Public Library (CCPL) continues to meet the needs of residents. Some of the recent highlighted services include early literacy/learning programs, small business resource centers and maker spaces.
Small Business Services
CCPL’s small business services include workshops, meeting spaces, small business seminars and job fairs. Each library provides small business resources that give customers access to equipment and supplies such as computers, laminators and shredders. CCPL partners with community businesses and experts to present programs that are of interest to job seekers and small business owners.
Preparing Children for School
CCPL plays a critical role in helping prepare children for school. Children are expected to have certain basic skills before entering school. Our early literacy story times provide parents and caregivers an opportunity to introduce and incorporate basic literacy skills into their child’s life.
Librarians will help your children learn letter awareness and knowledge of letter sounds and spelling through rhyme, music and interactive fun. A new and expanded early learning story time will be featured at our North Courthouse Road library in the fall of 2015.
Maker spaces are dedicated areas in the libraries that allow users to create, innovate and collaborate in a fun learning environment. Customers can use a sewing machine, electronic tools or state-of-the-art equipment such as a 3-D printer. Each makerspace has a different focus in response to the interests of the community, but all share a hands-on approach to creative expression and learning.
