2018 Empowering Neighborhoods Forum Set for March

January 11, 2018

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — Learn how to enhance your community at the 2018 Empowering Neighborhoods Forum, set for March 3.

This year’s event, presented by the county’s Revitalize Our Communities Committee, features keynote speaker Laura Lafayette, chief executive officer of the Richmond Association of REALTORS. The event is free and open to the public, and is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Thomas R. Fulghum Conference Center, 13900 Hull Street Road.

A variety of local experts will be on hand to offer useful workshops for residents, including:

Curb Appeal at a Reasonable Cost – A panel discussion highlighting cost-effective methods of sprucing up homes and community entrances.

Improving Home Value – Cost-effective home repairs including wood replacement, HVAC maintenance, water-efficient landscaping and turf care, and asphalt and sidewalk repairs.

Developing Community Leadership – A panel discussion from community association leaders that will cover legal issues regarding establishing and running board and community meetings, covering rules and regulations and providing effective and exciting social events.

"This year's forum will be exciting, allowing attendees to ask questions from industry leaders - those involved in establishing and working with associations, as well as realtors and contractors - whose expertise can help every homeowner,” said Bethany Halle, chair of the committee. “Whether you're in a planned community needing leadership and ideas for better communication or looking to purchase or sell a home, their advice and words of wisdom will be important learning tools."

“The 2018 Empowering Neighborhoods Forum brings together Chesterfield residents, neighborhood and community organizations, businesses and county staff to share ideas and solutions for bringing new life to our older neighborhoods,” said Carl Schlaudt, Chesterfield County Revitalization Manager. “The forum is a place for information exchange, but more importantly, it’s a place for equipping and networking our community leaders. Attendees get a better understanding of how to look after their neighborhoods, and find partners in helping to move forward.”

Applications are still being accepted for vendors and exhibitors.
