Career-Expo-Spotlight

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — Find your career in Chesterfield County – come to the Public Safety Career Expo next weekend to meet public safety staff, tour facilities and see demonstrations.

The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center, 6601 Public Safety Way, Chesterfield. The expo will offer those interested in Chesterfield’s public safety positions or training academies the opportunity to meet members of the Police Department, Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the Sheriff’s Office and the Emergency Communications Center. This is a new event, and a chance for people to meet directly with those who work in public safety.

The expo will be a chance to get information about a wide variety of public safety professions, including administrative and educational positions. It’s also an opportunity for families to learn about career options for the future. The county’s public safety departments offer many career options, and professionals here get extensive training to become experts in their fields.

“It’s important to us to attract exceptionally well-qualified candidates,” said Mary Martin Selby, director of human resources. “Public safety professionals play such an important role in our community, and we want them to know that they’ll be supported and appreciated by the community they serve.”

There will be vehicles on display, Search and Rescue, defensive tactics and K9 demonstrations, as well as tours of the Emergency Communications Center. Recruiters will provide information about positions, training academies, and what it’s like to live and work in Chesterfield County. Human Resources staff will be available to help with applications.
