Residents invited to comment on chapters online during process
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — Residents are encouraged to comment online on draft chapters of the Chesterfield County Comprehensive Plan as it is being updated throughout the summer, to aid planners throughout the process.
The Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2012. The Chesterfield County Planning Commission is reviewing the plan and updating it to meet the needs of the county into the future. Residents will have the opportunity to comment on specific draft chapters which will be released monthly starting April 1. Comments made online will be presented to the commission and posted online, and may be incorporated into the revised chapters.
“Comments and input from the community will help make this a better plan and reflect the desires of our residents and businesses for what we want Chesterfield to be,” said Steve Haasch, Chesterfield County planning manager.
In April, the chapters open for comment are: Chapter 1 – Plan Overview; Chapter 2 – Welcome to Chesterfield; Chapter 3 - Plan Goals; Chapter 4 – Demographics and Trends; and Chapter 8 – Historical and Cultural Resources.
After the entire document has been reviewed by the commission, the planning department will hold a series of public meetings to meet with residents and get the community’s thoughts about the updated Comprehensive Plan in its entirety.
