Chesterfield County Utilities Department’s AAA Bond Rating Affirmed

March 02, 2015
Utilities
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VIRGINIA — International ratings agency Fitch Ratings has affirmed the Chesterfield County Utilities Department’s AAA bond rating. The Chesterfield County Utilities Department is one of only a handful of water and wastewater utilities in the nation to have achieved AAA ratings on its revenue bonds from each of the three top rating services, including Fitch Ratings, Moody's Investors Services and Standard & Poor's.

This highest of bond ratings recognizes the Utilities Department’s excellent financial profile, low debt burden, manageable capital plan and affordable rates as the keys to the department’s success. It also recognizes the department’s sound economic fundamentals by its ability to provide essential services to a broad and diverse service area.

“Receiving this confirmation is a tremendous honor. Having our AAA rating affirmed by Fitch Ratings substantiates the financial stability of our Utilities Department,” said George B. Hayes, P.E., director of the Chesterfield County Utilities Department. “I want to thank the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors, County Administrator James Stegmaier and Deputy County Administrator Bill Dupler for their support in our efforts in maintaining a strong utility system for our consumers by providing low cost and high quality water and wastewater services. I am very proud of this organization and grateful for the support of all of the utility employees who contribute to our success.”
