Police Release Identity of Homicide Victim

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – The Chesterfield County Police Department has released the identity of a woman who was shot at her residence in the 3400 block of Summerbrooke Drive during the overnight hours from Wednesday, Sept. 10, to Thursday, Sept. 11.

At about 12:30 a.m. today, police responded to a residence in the 3400 block of Summerbrooke Drive to investigate a possible shooting. Almost simultaneously, a man arrived at police headquarters claiming that he had shot his wife at his residence in the 3400 block of Summerbrooke Drive. Police at the residence forced entry to the house and found the victim, Delesha C. Bowden, 27, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to VCU Medical Center, where she later died as a result of her injuries.

Officers at headquarters detained the man, who was identified as Corey C. Bowden Sr., 42. This morning, Bowden was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to the incident. This afternoon, police obtained a warrant for first-degree murder for Bowden. He is currently being held without bond in the Chesterfield County Jail.
