County Utilities Department Earns Recognition by National Association of Clean Water Agencies

July 02, 2014

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA —The National Association of Clean Water Agencies has selected the Chesterfield County Department of Utilities for its Excellence in Management Platinum Recognition. Utilities throughout the country compete for this distinction, with a select few receiving the award.

The Excellence in Management Program began in 2003 to recognize the significant achievements of NACWA member agencies for distinctive utility management. In order to receive this honor, member agencies are required to implement and sustain, for a continuous three-year period, successful programs that address the spectrum of unique environmental challenges faced by utilities that provide wastewater treatment services to their communities.

Last year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the American Water Works Association’s Partnership program recognized the Chesterfield County Utilities Department for producing exceptional drinking water.

“I am so proud of the work that we do every day at Chesterfield County Utilities. These awards are a confirmation of the excellence that we strive for both in the drinking water we provide to our customers as well as our efforts to protect the environment, including the James River and the Chesapeake Bay,” said Utilities Department Director Roy E. Covington, P.E.
